Where is The Phoenix Center located? Classes are held at the Phoenix Center which is located at 220 S. Main Street. This is approximately at the intersection of Liberty and Main. The ground level entry door located between Pretzel Bell and Nightcap will lead you upstairs to the second floor and The Phoenix Center is to the right.

Where is parking located? Street parking in downtown Ann Arbor is free after 6pm, on Sundays, and all federal holidays. Nearby surface lots are located at 305 S. Ashley and 201 W. Huron with an hourly rate of $1.50/hour. The closest structure is the Fourth and William Structure at 115 E. William with an hourly rate of $1.20/hour.

Where can I store my belongings? There is no storage area at The Phoenix Center. Keep all personal belongings in the lobby or designated areas inside the studio.

Is there a locker room? There are no private changing rooms. There is one unisex bathroom in the lobby.

Can I buy water at the studio? We do not have water for purchase. Please bring your own water bottle. There is a drinking fountain in the lobby.

What payment methods are accepted? Payment via cash, check, or Venmo only.

Where is the class schedule posted? Use the live Google calendar to view our weekly class schedule and stay informed for days where there are NO CLASSES. It's always up to date and the most reliable way to track our regularly scheduled classes. Classes run continuously except around holidays.

Do you have a class cancellation policy? Classes may be canceled whenever the Ann Arbor Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather. When the heat index is high or there is severe weather or tornado WATCH/WARNING class may be canceled for that day. When in doubt, check the facebook page before coming to class; it's the first spot we announce class cancellations if there is an instructor illness or inclement weather. The instructor reserves the right to revise the schedule at any time due to illness/injury or adverse weather conditions. If you have registered online for a spot in class, you will receive an email notification for a canceled class.

How do I cancel my online registration? The option to cancel is only found on Eventbrite's desktop site-not on their mobile app. You must navigate to their site via your web browser. Log in to Eventbrite, go to the Tickets page, and locate your order. Click your order to view order details, and select "Cancel Order" to cancel your registration.

Do you offer any discounted pricing? Yes, we have a Customer Loyalty Program! For every 24 classes any individual completes, you will receive $20 off your next purchase. Customers are responsible for obtaining their completed Zumba punch cards or proof of Bellydance class attendance. May combine class types for $20 off your next purchase. Proof of 24 class completion must be surrendered at the time of purchase.


What is the difference between Bellydance Fitness and Bellydance Technique classes? Bellydance technique class is for those who wish to understand and learn the dance form. We will break down the basics, do drills, and learn a short level-specific choreography building upon what we've learned from week to week. Students receive one-on-one instruction and guidance on the art of Middle Eastern dance. Bellydance fitness utilizes the movement of Middle Eastern dance to target the core, upper arms, and upper legs. It is a medium intensity workout focusing on strength and toning through bellydance. The program is a follow-the-leader form of movement, without too much emphasis on mastering the dance form. The class playlist is repeated each class for 6 weeks so that each participant can measure progress against their own best self. 

Do I need previous experience to do bellydancing? No previous dance experience is necessary for Beginner Bellydance Level I technique classes. If you have previous dance experience and are interested in joining Level II technique or Level III choreography class, please email to discuss placement based on your prior training.

What should I bring with me to class? We are barefoot or you can dance in socks. Wear tighter fitting activewear (no sweatpants or baggy shirts) and bring a water bottle.

Do I have to register online? Yes. Space is limited to 12 students for each bellydance class.

Can I try a class before paying for the 6-week session? With instructor approval, you may try the first class of a 6 week session before paying for the session in full.

I cannot attend all 6 classes in the current session, can I pay per class and just drop in? No drop-ins permitted.


What is Zumba fitness? The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Perfect for anybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. It’s total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility for boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time.

What should I bring with me to class? Carry your clean athletic shoes with you to avoid tracking in dirt, gravel, rain, etc. No street shoes allowed. Only water in closed container is allowed in the dance studio. Keep all personal belongings in the lobby or designated areas inside the studio.

Do I have to register online? Online registration is encouraged but not required for Zumba Fitness classes. Our system caters to both people who are diligent in securing a spot via the online system prior to class AND those who have busy schedules and prefer walk-in friendly classes. Based on attendance trends we have determined the following reserve numbers in our classes for both online registration and walk-in visits: Zumba Fitness classes = 20 online spots + 10 walk-in spots.

ONLINE REGISTRATIONS: You can sign up or make cancellations until 60 minutes prior to class. Cancel your reservation if you are unable to attend so that someone on the waitlist may join. We WILL penalize for missed classes by marking your punch card for the reservation regardless of whether you attended class or not.
WALK-IN VISITS: Open spots are given on a first-come-first served basis. Check-in begins 15 minutes prior to the class start time. When there are no longer any spots available, a sign will be placed on the check-in desk to indicate that no further walk-ins will be taken. If you are arriving late without a reserved spot, please check before joining the class so we don't go over capacity.

Will I ever be turned away if class hits capacity before I walk in? Yes. Give yourself enough time to check in directly with one of our coordinators at the lobby desk. We must track the number of participants in each class to ensure we do not go over capacity or we do not penalize your punch card with a no-show. Allow someone at the check-in desk to mark your punch card. Do NOT mark your own punch card. When there are no longer any spots available, a sign will be placed on the check-in desk to indicate that no further walk-ins will be able to join that day. If you are arriving late without a reserved spot, please check before joining the class so we don't go over capacity.

Which classes can I attend? You may attend any of the weekly Zumba classes using your punchcard. Classes run continuously but we don't hold classes around holidays. Use the live calendar under the Schedule page on our website to view our weekly class schedule and stay informed for days where there are NO CLASSES.

Can I try a class before paying for a punchcard? The first class is always free! After the first visit, you must sign up online and reserve a spot for each class you want to attend.

Does my punchcard have an expiration date? 6 class punchcards expire 3 months from the purchase date. 12 class punchards expire 6 months from the purchase date

Can you look up when I purchased my punchcard? No. Our classes are not administered through a computer system. Our operations are humble to accommodate our dance instructors and volunteer coordinators.

My punchcard expired, can I get credit toward a new one? Extensions will be given for illness/injury or a pre-approved leave of absence. No refunds.
